What is going on with my forum? I currently have it in maintenance mode. That means only staff members (admin and mods) can log in. Yet, I see 2 guests are viewing the forum! It's not a problem or anything, but I wonder what is going on.
Meh. Anyway, I hate Wednesdays because my classes run from 8:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the evening. What I would give to change my schedule...

Oh great. More guests are viewing the forum... and they somehow gained access to the Staff Room! I don't know how, because the only people that have permission to access the Staff Room are staff members. It makes no sense....

I think most of the "guests" that view restricted areas of the forum are actually these things called Googlebots. They're not actual users and will not harm the forum in any way, they are just looking for sites to display on their search engines. I can always tell when a Googlebot is online by checking the IP addresses of guests online. I'm able to recognize the Googlebot's IP address so when that IP comes up on the list, I know a Googlebot is online. Even though it says they're in the staff room, they can't really get in there. There were other times when I saw "guests" inside one of my password-protected boards, and also inside a category which didn't let anyone but Administrators in. (The latter, I don't get. Those kind of categories won't even show up to anyone but Administrators). But, they're not really accessing those areas.

Actually, I thought my account was hacked the other day. It's scary... because if a hacker did try and hack this forum, the first account they'd go after would be mine. If someone obtained my password, I couldn't do a thing about it. I have a backup account, but the root admin account is so well-protected that I couldn't ban it, or delete it, or edit it or anything. I can't even view my own IP address in my posts so that eliminates IP banning.
Turned out it was only a glitch, but it really seemed like my account was being accessed by someone else. I was just browsing the forum as always, when I suddenly found myself logged out. But my admin account wasn't logged out. My name showed up on the list of users online, and even after I refreshed the page, it was still there. I tried closing down the internet window and re-opening it and nothing changed. As a last attempt, I tried logging into my account (which was already logged in at the moment). Fortunately, that overwrote the logged-in account and I was able to get back into the forum. I changed my password right away just as a precaution. I advise everyone else to change their passwords often as well...

I bet the people who hack are 40, live in there parent's basement, and haven't had a date since high school.

Yes, definitely. ^^ I wonder... why would anyone even want to do something like hack someone's account? Don't they have anything better to do with their time? Don't they have any morals...?

Yes, we don't like fighting on this forum. Usually, if a thread looks like it's on its way to a big argument, it gets locked up.
Debates should be taken to the arguing sub-board in the Blah Blah board. No flaming is allowed anywhere on the forum, though.
