Okay. My forum is a little bigger than it was before, so should I hire more staff or wait till more people join the forum?
And is anyone interested in creating their own color schemes for the forum? ^-^

I would be happy to help if you wanted me to. I'm online an awful lot... >>;;; I also know some about forums and have made some skins or whatever you call them before. You can look at Satty's site for examples. I made the Kino no Tabi and the evil skin. You can also see some of my work here though it isn't nearly as nice since the top banner looks all weird. (From before I got photoshop.)

Yeah... I'm definitely going to have to change the forum colors sometime soon. The truth is, they've been hurting my eyes too since day one. ^-^ If anyone wants to make their own forum colors, I've created a member group just for that, which gives people access to the part of the administration area used for changing forum colors. ^-^

Being a moderator is a lot harder than it sounds. Ask the mods... Being an admin is worse. Sure, the admin has a lot of power, but also a lot of responsibility. I have to make sure the forum stays in line and that arguments don't break out. I have to obey people's requests and (try my best to) answer their questions, and follow a seemingly endless list of rules. If I break the Proboards Terms of Service, or allow the forum members to break these rules, I risk losing my forum. I have to make updates and be online frequently. It's a difficult job. Very difficult.

Uh-oh. Lazy? Uh... that's not so great if you want to be an admin... the job is a lot of work... I know a lot of people would want the status because of the overwhelming power the main admin has, but as I said, with that power comes a whole load of responsibility. Some forum admins hire 1 or 2 other people on their forums as administrators. They actually give the administrator power to these people, which means putting them into the "administrator" member group. Therefore, the forum would have more than one admin. This does work, because the work of running the forum is split up between several people rather than just one. This forum has only one admin, always has had only one, and always will have only one. I'm not hiring administrators, so... please, don't anyone ask to be put into that member group because it's... well... not happening. Sorry if I sound mean, but that's the way this particular forum works. Since there is only one admin... all the administrative workload of the forum gets put on her... Okay, I'm exaggerating. I did hire plenty of staff, so not all the work gets put on me. The Global Mod and Mini Admin also have "super moderator" powers, so they're able to edit posts, delete posts, delete threads, move threads, lock threads, bump threads and lock polls on any board in the forum. As the forum is getting more under control, I'm also adding more and more administrative functions to the list of abilities that these assistant groups have. So yeah. Being a staff member isn't all peaches and cream. There are people who want the status for the authority and importance that comes with it, but trust me, there's a lot more to being part of the staff team than simply having a title. You need to know how to manage the boards you're assigned to moderate (or in the case of anyone with "super moderator" powers, all the boards) and deal with difficult situations that may happen in particular boards. Staff members should also have a good knowledge of how forums work, because staff members are usually the ones at the receiving end of any questions people may ask about the forum. Staff also have to know how to use their powers properly and not abuse them. And we have to follow the same set of rules that every other member of the forum has to. But there may be people who have sat through my entire lecture and still think they have what it takes to be a successful moderator. I'm not hiring any more staff as of now, but if the forum gets more members I will definitely consider re-opening my "Who wants to be a Moderator?" board that's been closed for about a month now. I'm sure there are people out there that would make good mods. Just don't apply if it's only the title or authority you're after... because like I said already, it's whether or not you can handle the responsibility that counts... Wow, that was a long post. I'm really sorry if I sounded like I was lecturing. I'm aware I probably terrified some people who were thinking of becoming mods... and I apologize if I did. Please don't kill me.... okay...?

I like the colors, but they could change a bit.
I think you have enough moderators. The only problem is if they don't do their job. ^_^

You aren't lazy. I was confused as to what you said in a previous post about being lazy... because you aren't.. you're an active member of this forum, and you do a good job at making everyone follow the rules. I probably do have enough moderators. It's not a very big forum, and with three staff members having "super moderator" abilities (the global mod, mini admin and myself), I guess that's plenty of moderation power for such a small forum. ^-^ And you're right, I do write too much.
