They added a new feature to the forums, the warning system. This is a way of monitoring members' behaviour. I suppose that once the warning meter is maxed out, the member risks getting banned. Or something like that.. ^-^ I was wondering, does anyone actually want me to activate it? There are 4 options: Everyone - Everyone on the forum can see everyone's warning meter. Only Staff - Only staff members (the people who have colored names) can see the warning meter. Only Staff and Warned Member - The only people who can see the warning meter are staff members and the person who got warned. Disabled - No warning system. Period.
Right now it's "disabled". Does anyone think this warning system is a good idea?

I think it is. Otherwise there is no reason for people to not to keep abusing the system. I think staff and the person being warned should be able to see at the very least. I don't care if anyone else can see it.

Okay, I'll probably activate the warning system soon. The warning meter ranges from 0%-100%. If you reach 100% (let's hope no one does), it will probably mean banning. If you reach 75%, the word "Warning" will be displayed under your username. It is possible to decrease the warning meter.
These are a few crimes that will result in the warning level going up:
Double/Multiple Posting. 2% increase, and another 1% for each additional post past the second one.
Spamming. Minimum 3% increase.
Flaming. Minimum 10% increase. The more severe, the more it increases.
Being Annoying. (i.e. typing in all CAPS or overloading your post with smilies) 2% increase.
Abusing the word filter l i k e t h i s or otherwise. Minimum 5% increase.
Going seriously off-topic. Depends. If you only go off topic a little, I probably will just remind you to get back on topic and it won't affect the warning level. Get seriously off topic (without an attempt to get back on topic) and it'll probably mean both a 1-2% warning level increase and locking of the topic.
Copying other people's work, a.k.a. plagiarism. Immediate account suspension for a period of time I haven't decided yet. Probably 10 days.
Talking about Inappropriate Things. We want to keep this rated 13 and under at the very most. I absolutely can't have any content that wouldn't be suitable for people under 13. I could get in big trouble and have my forum deleted if such talk goes on. I know you're all nice people and will obey this rule anyway... ^-^
Since I'm such a nice admin, I'll let new people get away with it a couple of times without a warning... but if you do it repeatedly, expect to be warned.
Ways to Decrease the Warning Level:
If you did something bad and you apologize, the warning level will be decreased.
If you do something to help out around the forum, such as report people who are breaking rules, the warning level will decrease.
If you're good, I will decrease the warning level by 5% every 2 weeks.
Oh, and a couple more things... the way it will probably be is that only the staff member and the warned member will be able to see the warning meter. And I know you're all really nice people so I shouldn't have to use the warning system much, if at all. ^-^ I'm not 100% sure how the warning system works, so it may end up being completely different than the way I describe it here.
