Directions for Color Coordinators
Creating New Skins
1. Go to the admin area. You can access that by clicking on “Admin” at the top of the screen.
2. Select “Skins/Forum Colors” from the admin area.
3. Then… select “Create Skin”.
4. If you want to see examples of forum color layouts or popup layouts, there are 2 links at the top of the next page.
5. Start customizing the new skin by thinking of a title for it. Enter a URL for a logo if you want one, and change the fonts if you want to by entering in the names of new fonts (I just left them the same…). A little further down you will be able to enter the URL for a background image if you want one, and you will be able to decide whether you want the background image to scroll with the page or not.
6. The rest of the boxes on the page are for picking colors for various parts of the forum. I recommend looking at the examples of forum color layouts to help you with this. To pick colors, you can click on the “color chart” link beside the text box for each one, and select a color from the color chart that pops up.
7. If you don’t like any of the colors in the color chart, there is a site you can go to (thanks to Nekochi for providing this ^-^) which has a lot more colors to choose from. This site is www.december.com/html/spec/color.html.
8. If you want one of the colors from that site, first you choose one of the five categories of colors (neutrals, warms, greens, blues, purples) and then you are given a huge list of colors for that category. When you do find the color you want, you copy its hex color code (i.e. the code for indigo is 2E0854) and paste it into the text box for the part of the forum whose color you want to change.
9. When you finish creating the skin, just click on “Create Skin” and your skin is created. ^-^
Just a couple of rules though... before actually doing anything...
-Please... don't touch any of the forum color schemes I already made... or the default one... but you can create your own and mess around with it all you want. ^-^
-If you want to change the skin that comes up when you're viewing the forum, you can go into your profile and do it. Just don't change the default skin for the forum, okay?
