[glow=red,2,300]The Forum Rules, Version 3.0[/glow] (hopefully the last).
I’ve decided to make one last revision to the forum rules. Version 1.0 was too disorganized. Version 2.0 was too strict and intimidating. Version 3.0 is a little more lenient, and still organized.
1. I can’t take this rule away, sorry… no matter how much people ask me, I can’t.
Follow the Proboards Terms of Service. I can’t stress this enough. When someone breaks any of these Terms of Service, it may as well be me breaking the Terms of Service, because all the blame gets put on the board administrator, and they can end up losing their forum if they don’t do something about it.
I’m sorry, but I don’t want to risk losing the forum I worked so hard on. Thanks. ^^
2. Please watch your forum etiquette. Forum members and staff sure don't like it if you misbehave, which includes doing things like...
-Overuse of Multiple Posting. Double posting once in a while is perfectly okay, and I don’t get after people for doing that. It’s more like when someone posts 5 or 6 times in a row, back to back. That annoys other forum members if you do it repeatedly. There is a thing called the Modify button, feel free to use it. ^^
-Spamming. This includes any posts which are painfully short (powerposting), pointless, majorly off-topic, utterly stupid, a bunch of random letters/smilies... you get the point. It’s kind of annoying to read and disorganizes threads. If someone spams to a point where it becomes a serious problem, I’ll have no choice but to ban their IP address.
-Flaming. No one likes being pointlessly insulted. Please don’t do it on this forum. You get 2 warnings before I issue a ban, so watch it.
-Posting in ALL CAPS. Really, if you think about it, it's rude because you appear to be yelling at other forum members. If you want to get people's attention, try using a different color font instead.
-Oh, and please remember to stay on topic. It's highly annoying when on-topic posts mingle with off-topic posts in the same thread. If this happens, a member of staff will probably post a reminder to get back on topic, or lock the topic.
3. People who create multiple accounts for any reason will have their least-used accounts deleted. No warning will be given for this, though.
4. You can advertise your own sites or forums on the advertising board, or in your signatures. Anywhere else, and your topic will be locked.
5. No copying of other people’s work. It’s called plagiarism, and is disrespectful to the original creator of the work. If you’re going to use someone else’s work, make sure to get their permission, and give them credit. This includes fan fiction, RPGs, fan art, and pretty much anything that people put on a website or forum.
That’s it. Much shorter, isn’t it? I found the original rules list much too intimidating. ^^

P.S. I took out the Bumping Old Topics rule. Topics that are older than 2 months will be locked. You’re allowed to bump topics that are less than 2 months old.
This rule does not apply to the RPG board, the Affiliates board or the Fan Fiction board. Topics on those boards will be kept open unless they get out of hand and need to be locked for a different reason.
A mod or the admin may also bump 2-month-old topics whenever they feel they should not die.
