I have a list of the member groups in the Beginners' Guide, but if you don't want to literally go digging through a massive paragraph of blah, this is a good place to look.
Anonymous Farmer - A person who has not logged in, or just hasn't created an account. They can view the forum, and post in most boards, but there are certain places on the forum that are off-limits to Anonymous Farmers.
Registered Member - A person who has created an account with the forum. When registered members log in, they can access just about any area on the forum and post in all the boards except one. Only the Staff Room is off-limits to regular members.
Moderator - A staff member who has the ability to manage threads and posts on certain boards. They are assigned to their boards by people who have the power to modify boards.
Global Moderator - A staff member who has the ability to manage threads and posts on all boards in the forum. This kind of power is known as "super moderator" power. They don't have to be assigned to boards since they moderate every board anyway.
Color Coordinator - A staff member who has the ability to manage the forum's color schemes (skins). They can create their own skins and modify those already created.
Mini Admin - A staff member who has "super moderator" powers, as well as the ability to access certain additional administrative functions that other groups can't.
P.S. Mini Admins are experts at handling disciplinary sticks. Mwahaha.
Root Administrator (aka "Main Admin") - The staff member who owns the forum. They manage the entire forum and everything it contains..
P.S. Root Administrators should never be given disciplinary sticks. Ever.
Secondary Administrator - Anyone in the Administrator member group who isn't the Main Admin. They have almost all the powers the Main Admin has, except there are a few things they can't do:
1. Access anything in the "Member Groups" category of the administration area. In that category, there will be nothing but a message that reads "No Options Available".
2. Delete the entire forum.
3. Manage ad-free settings.
4. Assign people to member groups. This is what I do when I'm "hiring moderators" and such. Secondary admins can't do this.
5. Delete the main admin account.
6. Ban the main admin account by their username or email address. The main admin account is immune to all types of banning except IP ban.
(When you IP ban someone, you are banning them only on the computer they're currently logged into. If the main admin is IP banned, they can easily go log into another computer and un-ban their account.)
7. Modify the main admin account. The "Modify Profile" link will be there, but when they try to access it, they'll get nothing but a message that reads "The admin account can not be modified by anyone else.".
8. Secondary admins can see everyone's IP addresses at the bottom of their posts, except the main admin's. Instead of an IP address at the bottom the the main admin's posts, it will just say "Logged".
Banned - Simply put, when I ban someone, I chuck them into this member group. This member group isn't staff and does not have any admin powers whatsoever.
Backup Administrator - The seventh member group, created on March 24, 2005. Members in this member group can do everything the Main Admin can do except for #1, 2, and 5-8 on that list. The only member that will ever be in this member group is A.A..
I made this so that if someone hacked my admin account, I'd have some form of backup that would last me until I could get a hold of the Proboards staff. The staff at Proboards would be able to restore my admin account to me if this happened.
